Heading ashore

At anchor for almost a week. Went in to town and back on a choppy ride. Ships all over the strait waiting for their turn to deliver or load. Google Earth showing limitless jungles and unreachable mountain ranges just a short distance inland from this human oasis on the Borneo coast. A good place to do an Everett Ruess.

Rope's End

Offshore Moods

The light and color tone, the mood and the contrast all depends on time of day, height and the distance of the sun, on weather patterns. Even more so out here on the open sea since there is not much else distraction between the naked eye and the horizon. The short time between the fading sunlight and a starfilled sky can be witnessed as the coffee in your cup mug is drained. Seldom heavy sea on this part of the Borneo coast, often flat and calm.

Old Man And The Sea

15 hours from the South Eastern Borneo coast. Over a kilometer of water under the keel and cloud formations more visually powerful than seen in a long time. Open space and a whole community of man made structures in full power
taking on mother nature. Fishermen gather at night for a sure catch under fluorescent light from steel rigs and platforms.
